Temporary Conical Strainer – SS304 Start-up Strainer for Pump Suction Protection, ANSI 150–600LB

Tengs Valve supplies temporary conical strainers in SS304 stainless steel, designed for pump suction start-up protection during pipeline commissioning and flushing. The conical strainer is mounted between two flanges (wafer type / sandwich type) and removed after commissioning, making it a cost-effective solution for protecting pumps, valves and instruments from weld slag, pipe scale and construction debris. Sizes range from 1" to 36" (DN25–DN900). Pressure ratings include ANSI Class 150LB, 300LB and 600LB. Perforated hole sizes include 1mm, 2mm, 3mm and 5mm. Mesh sizes range from 20 to 400. Suitable for ANSI B16.5 and ASME B16.47 flanges. Customized or tailor-made sizes available.

Why Choose a Temporary Conical Strainer?

Temporary conical strainers are installed during pipeline commissioning, flushing and pressure testing, then removed after start-up. They protect downstream equipment such as pumps, valves, meters and heat exchangers from construction debris, weld slag and pipe scale that would otherwise cause damage during the first hours of operation. The conical shape provides a larger filtration surface than a flat screen, which means lower pressure drop and longer intervals between cleanings. Because it is mounted between two existing flanges as a wafer/sandwich element, it requires no additional piping modification and is easy to install and remove. SS304 construction provides good corrosion resistance for water, oil and gas commissioning service.
